That is definitely kind of what I was personally thinking about this entire situation. Pretty easy t set up some rules to block known Crypto emails.Same sentiment here. The top two we always work with are MimeCast and Proofpoint.ProofPoint seems to be much more SMB Focused.
But using them for cloud-based Office 365 or Gmail actually blinds Microsoft and Google's default security. Interesting comments here. However, Essentials is geared towards the 5-250 mailbox market. And god forbid you accidentally hit the browser's back button. Not to mention that the product has been end of life'd. I'm down to Mimecast and Proofpoint.

Especially if our O365 vendor bundles in the services, they are the first line of defense for support and are certified on either Mimecast of Proofpoint.I agree with you that both of the GUI are vastly different.

A better comparison would be their enterprise product versus Mimecast.Support - Mimecast has a service that determines if you are a premier customer or not. So I recommend that route its been solid for us but only have maybe 60 odd customers migrated so far. It really comes down to whichever vendor has a partnership with either one usually.ZIX has a solid offering, but honestly, it is so convoluted I'm not sure what they are selling. Mimecast Solutions. Proofpoint is better at this. They do not support DKIM/DMARC yet and have seen some people have issues with this, mainly with signature and disclaimer services.

But there are only so many fish in the sea if you catch my drift.Mimecast focuses more on Enterprise companies. My boss and I both have agreed that Mimecast has the edge on the list; but that's only on paper and 1-2 hour demo. However when it came down to pricing Mimecast was 2-3x what we were getting Proofpoint Essentials for, and we just couldn't justify the cost difference.
From others on here, I don't believe they are the best at name spoofing, but domain spoofing with SPF seems to help a bit.I’ve never used Proofpoint so can’t comment on real use, the demo we seen though we weren’t as keen on the UI.For archiving for both vendors, get pricing for the data ingestion. Clearly, we are a competitor but I will say this. We looked at proofpoint but couldn't afford it because we were an SMB. I have the pricings for both through a vendor. We've done lot's of projects where either the client keeps their email security gateway service or switches over to a bundled pricing. Another vote for Mimecast. I've seen a few posts about proofpoint us1 having some downtime. Those are his thoughts not mine but I am already likely leaning towards Mimecast. Also get the costs for data export if you decide to move away down the line.I'm more then willing to answer any other questions in regards to this.
