We did walk our bikes up most of Swan Mountain... we got there on mile 9. It uses a combination of Swan Mountain, Snake Reservoir, Dillon Dam and Friso recreational paths.Track starts at Swan Mountain Rd Trailhead just W of Highway 9.Steady 6% grade up Swan Mountain marked bike lane to top. We went clockwise starting at the Dillion amphitheater. Here are some of the activities at Dillon Reservoir Recreation Area, in ABC order: Biking/Hiking Hiking trail beside Lake Dillon. But that's like at one little part of the trail. The hike can be done as a long day hike, backpack, or separate hikes. This hike is absolutely gorgeous in the fall with the changing of the leaves.Tenderfoot Mountain Trail offers wonderful views of Dillon Reservoir and the peaks of Tenmile Range beyond a flowery hillside.
There are some serious uphill climbs along the way. Wow, we had a great time on this trail. Take the next left, Lakeview Drive, which is soon intersected by Aspen Drive. When most people think about nature in Colorado, their minds usually conjure vast mountain landscapes. At that time, there was very little road or pedestrian traffic but a bit chilly. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until October.
Most of the trail follows the route originally pro- posed for Interstate 70. Park here and follow the road to the trailhead. !Fantastic bike ride, challenging at times, beautiful scenery and worth the exercise!!! Pretty views, tons of wild flowers, even saw a hummingbird!Really not much of a hike...but the views are spectacular! We avoided the Swan Mountain Road, because we didn't feel safe doing such steep hills on rollerblades. There are shorter versions of this trail, so don’t feel the need to hike to the top.To get here from Keystone: Take Highway 6 back towards Dillon and connect with route 9 (Highway 6 turns into route 9). parking is well marked as wellGreat quick hike. My 8 and 10 year old sons did it with me.
Rented bikes from Breezes at Antlers for the day and hit the paved trails. absolutely gorgeous views and I'm only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish it were longer. I would definitely not recommend the entire loop for first timers or kiddos. Great hike for families with little kids.Gorgeous wildflowers. Wouldn’t say this loop is for small kids or super beginners but anyone else could do it - would rate this loop 6 stars if I could! Along the way, you can see almost everything that is special about the Eagles Nest Wilderness. Otherwise you will be seriously frustrated. The flatter part of the trail was moderately busy.It's an easy ride with only one major climb. Beautiful views.For the casual weekend bike rider this will be a challenge if you do the loop. "There are several meadows with wildflowers and a stream which beg for you to take a moment and relax, drink some water, eat a snack and embrace the fact that you are in such an amazing natural setting." The views are spectacular.Very easy trail that has great views of Dillon Reservoir. Considered lightly trafficked from 9:00am- 11:30am. Scenic overlooks: See the dramatic backdrop of the Gore, Williams Fork and Ten Mile mountain ranges. Wildflowers change with alternating habitats throughout the trail. The trailhead is on the right, near Heaton Bay Campground.Great little hike yielding super views. They got tired but we’re champs!
