Boat motors are limited to 10 horsepower.There are two developed campgrounds at Ashurst Lake: Ashurst Lake and Forked Pine with 25 campsites each. A graveled road to the lake and around it provides a good place to ride your mountain bike.

Ashurst Lake AZ is located about twenty minutes south of Flagstaff off Lake Mary Rd. The lake is regularly stocked during the summer with rainbow and brook trout.

We wound up at this location (further north than we meant to be) because everything on the way was full. Both campgrounds hug the lakeshore with campsites huddled in a picturesque stand of gnarly old juniper trees and pinyon pines. Just got back from creeling Ashurst. Folks were catching fish on garlic PowerBait (chartreuse, yellow and white) on both sides of the lake, but the folks on the point opposite of the boat ramp were catching more than the folks around the boat ramp. In addition, catfish can be caught on chicken liver and hotdogs. Joes flies are also working well as are gold and silver panther martins.

07/11/2020 Fishing has picked up and trout are being caught on a variety of methods. Facilities: Boat ramp, 50 single-unit campsites (25 at each of two campgrounds) with tables, fire rings, and cooking grills, Drinking water and vault toilets. Free camping is permitted during the off season after the campgrounds close.This medium size Northern Arizona lake has a reputation of holding water even during long drought spells.
