The playground is definitely a bonus - lots of opportunity to expend excess energy!I know that the zoo was hit with major flooding last year but hasn't enough time gone by to get the central Polar Bear exhibit back up and running? How about the other empty exhibits? My boyfriend was amazed when the Lion roared (talked about all the way home). We are Zoo travelers and have seen many zoos across the country. Never over populated. There use to be polar bears but from what I remember, they all have passed away over the years which leaves a huge space open for something new.

We have not yet reached that level and with the large amount of space between our outside grounds and indoor buildings, we are able to promote social distancing and safety for our guests, animals, and staff! I remember that it was a at least a 2 to 3 hour visit prior. It really needs to get in gear and get things cleaned up and back up and running again. Church groups? This zoo has a large area of acreage that can house more and new animals. My wife and I visited the zoo on July 4th and we were through the zoo within an hour. I feel the zoo in Duluth was a 5 star attraction before and I think it can be again. While the breadth of animals doesn't compare to larger zoos, young kids don't really know the difference.
